Misophonia, though currently not listed in the DSM V, is a disorder of sound aversion.
In my practice, I have observed misophonia co-occurring with OCD and other times presenting by itself. It is a frustrating disorder with intense emotions including anger, anxiety, and disgust. During treatment I help my clients increase their arousal management and distress tolerance using mindfulness and cognitive behavioral strategies.
